Patrick Mcloughlin, the Secretary of State for Transport, was given a tour of the new link road at Camborne and Redruth last week where he joined George Eustice, MP for Camborne, Redruth & Hayle to the view progress that is being made there. It was the third visit Patrick McLoughlin has made to the site having broken the turf at the start of construction works in May 2013 and returned last summer.
The first phase of the new road running behind the leisure centre is due to open at the end of March with the major phase running from Pool through Tuckingmill scheduled to open in September. Once complete, the new road will relieve congestion and traffic queuing on the East Hill junction with the A30 and will also open up the potential for the regeneration of the Tuckingmill area, with many derelict sites being brought forward for development for housing and industrial units.
George Eustice said of the visit “It was really great having the Secretary for Transport come down to see the progress that is being made. I know that the works have caused some frustration, but once the road is complete and open we will see major improvements in traffic flow throughout the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area. I lobbied hard to secure funding for the link road which will regenerate Tuckingmill and open up derelict mining land for development, creating thousands jobs over the next few years and I look forward to the road finally opening."
