Coronavirus - Carer's Wages

I completely agree that carers provide a vital, often complex and physically demanding role in homes across the country.

I understand that salaries for carers vary depending on the level of care that they provide. For example, while having a carer who lives in can cost from around £650 per week, it can also cost as much as £1,600 per week if a lot of care is required. There are a number of different ways of arranging it, including direct payment as you have outlined, as well as through the council or through a homecare agency.

The new immigration system makes provision for shortage occupations to ensure that people who can fill these roles are enabled to live in the UK. At present, this list includes staff like nurses, medical practitioners and social workers. It will be updated to reflect the needs of the job market.

I hope that the information above is helpful to you and I thank you for taking the trouble to get in touch.
