George Eustice, Member of Parliament for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle, recently met with the Redruth branch of Bradfords Building Supplies to discuss their investment in their longstanding workforce and rising to the challenge of net-zero.

During the visit, George met with Giles Bradford (Head of Sustainability), Dean Gerrans (General Manager) and Brett Amphlett (Head of Policy).

As the country’s oldest builders’ merchant, George was shown how Bradfords is supporting constituents in making greener choices in construction. As part of his tour, George was given the opportunity to inspect the latest sustainable materials as well as chat with the Redruth team about company initiatives for career progression.

Following the visit, George commented:

“It was great to recently visit Bradfords’ Building Supplies in Redruth to hear how they are embracing low- and zero-carbon construction initiatives, whilst serving their traditional housebuilding and property improvement markets. Bradfords’ is still a family-run business, having celebrated its 250th anniversary, it is great to see they are still thriving, local business that plays an important role in not only the Camborne and Redruth economy, but also more widely throughout Cornwall.”

Wendy Brooks (Bradfords HR Director) added:

“Whether it’s the Bradfords Group Apprenticeship Programme, our Fast Track to management course or host of other training programmes, we understand the critical need to nurture and develop our employees for the long term. Across our network of branches throughout the South West, we look to provide opportunities for career progression and broadening our employees’ skillsets throughout their tenure - offering the chance for staff to re-train as HGV drivers, for example.”
