George Eustice, MP for Camborne & Redruth was recently joined by his colleague Liz Truss, Secretary of State at the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) for a tour of the Food Processing Unit at the Barncoose Industrial Estate, followed by a visit to the new Linden Homes development at Heartlands in Pool.
The visit to Heartlands came as the Government heralded new figures showing that the Help to Buy scheme has helped 88,000 thousand people across the country since its launch in 2013, with over 80% of properties sold going to first time buyers.
George Eustice said of the visit “I have always said we should build housing on brownfield sites before greenfield sites so that we can restore derelict land to good use and often save old buildings. The development at Heartlands is exactly what the area needs, because it celebrates our industrial past with unique designs and provides new housing for young families. Over a third of the properties are already reserved using Help to Buy. Home ownership should not be just for those with money and schemes like Help to Buy have been hugely successful helping hundreds of local families."
